March 21, 2026

A step-by-step guide for food and beverage brands looking to find, evaluate, and connect with American manufacturers on USA Factory Network.

Buyer's Guide to Finding Your Manufacturing Partner

Buyer's Guide to Finding Your Manufacturing Partner

This guide walks you through the complete process of using USA Factory Network to find the right American manufacturer for your food or beverage product. From creating your account to comparing quotes, we cover every step.

What is USA Factory Network for Buyers?

USA Factory Network helps food and beverage brands find FDA-registered American manufacturers for co-packing, private label, and contract manufacturing. Instead of cold-calling facilities or searching through outdated directories, you submit a single request describing your product needs and get matched with qualified manufacturers.

Every manufacturer on the platform is a U.S.-based facility. Our matching system evaluates each one against your specific requirements — product category, certifications, production capacity, location, and more — and delivers curated matches, typically within 48 hours.

How Matching Works

When you submit a request, here is what happens behind the scenes:

  1. Your request is scored against every manufacturer in our network. The system evaluates category alignment, certification matches, geographic region, MOQ feasibility, timeline compatibility, and profile completeness.

  2. Top-scoring manufacturers are reviewed for quality and fit.

  3. Your curated matches are delivered to your dashboard, typically within 48 hours.

  4. You can then review each match, message manufacturers directly, and request quotes.

The system also factors in manufacturer tier — Premium manufacturers with verified certifications receive a slight boost in matching, which means they have often invested more in their quality and compliance programs.

Quickstart: Step by Step

Step 1: Create Your Account

Visit usafactorynet.com and click Sign Up. You will need an email address to get started. Once your account is created, you are ready to submit your first request.

Step 2: Browse the Directory (Optional but Recommended)

Before submitting a formal request, explore the manufacturer directory. You can filter by:

  • Product category (Supplements, Beverages, Packaged Foods, etc.)

  • Certifications (FDA, HACCP, USDA Organic, Kosher, etc.)

  • Location / region

This gives you a sense of who is available and what capabilities exist in your product area.

Step 3: Submit Your Request

Go to the request form and walk through the 5 steps:

  1. Product — Describe your product, select a category and subcategories, and optionally upload supporting files (specs, formulas, labels — up to 5 files, 10 MB each).

  2. Quantity and Budget — Select your production volume (from Prototype at 1-10 units up to Large Scale at 10,000+) and your budget range.

  3. Timeline and Location — Choose your production timeline (from ASAP to Flexible) and your preferred manufacturer region (or Any U.S. Location).

  4. Certifications — Select the certifications your product requires. FDA Food Facility Registration is required by default. We recommend also selecting HACCP and GMP at minimum.

  5. Review — Confirm your contact information, select your company size, agree to the terms, and submit.

Step 4: Review Your Matches

Once matching is complete, your matches will appear in your dashboard under the request you submitted. Each match shows the manufacturer name, location, category alignment, match score, and options to view their full profile or send a message.

Step 5: Message Manufacturers

Use the built-in messaging system to introduce yourself, ask questions, and discuss your project. Messages are organized by conversation and you will receive notifications when manufacturers respond.

Step 6: Request Quotes

For manufacturers you are interested in, submit a quote request directly from their profile page. The quote form lets you provide specific product details so the manufacturer can give you an accurate estimate.

Step 7: Compare and Choose

If you have received multiple quotes, use the quote comparison tool in your dashboard to evaluate them side by side. Consider pricing, lead times, MOQ requirements, and certifications when making your decision.

Understanding Your Dashboard

Your buyer dashboard is your home base. Here is what you will find:

  • Requests — All your submitted requests with status indicators (New, Reviewing, Matched, Closed).

  • Messages — All your conversations with manufacturers, organized by request or direct contact. Unread messages are highlighted.

  • Quotes — Quote requests you have sent and responses you have received, with status tracking.

  • Notifications — Alerts for new matches, messages, quote responses, and other activity.

  • Profile — Your company information and notification preferences.

Certifications to Know

When filling out the certifications step of your request, here are the most common ones:

  • FDA Food Facility Registration — Required for all food manufacturing in the U.S. This is selected by default on every request.

  • HACCP — Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. A systematic approach to food safety. Recommended for most products.

  • GMP — Good Manufacturing Practice. Ensures consistent quality standards. Recommended for most products.

  • SQF / BRCGS / FSSC 22000 — Advanced food safety management systems. Required by many major retailers.

  • USDA Organic — Required if your product is labeled as organic.

  • Non-GMO Project Verified — Required if your product carries the Non-GMO Project seal.

  • Kosher / Halal — Required if your product needs religious dietary certification.

  • NSF GMP / USP Verified — Common for supplements and nutraceuticals.

If you are unsure which certifications you need, start with FDA, HACCP, and GMP. You can always discuss specific requirements with matched manufacturers through the messaging system.

Pro Tips

  • Be as specific as possible in your product description. Include ingredients, target packaging format, target audience, and any regulatory requirements.

  • Use the shortlist feature. As you browse the directory, save interesting manufacturers to your shortlist for easy comparison later.

  • Set up saved search alerts. If you do not find what you need right away, save your search criteria and enable email alerts for new matches.

  • Request quotes from multiple manufacturers. Aim for at least 2-3 quotes to compare pricing, lead times, and terms.

  • Check media galleries on Premium manufacturer profiles. Photos and videos give you a much better sense of their operation before reaching out.

  • Look for verified certifications. Manufacturers with verified badges have submitted documentation reviewed by our team.

  • Respond to messages promptly. Manufacturers are more likely to prioritize engaged and responsive buyers.

  • Use the quote comparison tool. When you have multiple quotes, the side-by-side view makes it easy to evaluate your options.
